If you’re in need of a change and some new interior design ideas, check out these 5 ways to spruce up your ceiling. Even doing one room can make a difference.

1. Tin Ceiling Tiles

Tin ceiling tiles come in all different colors (most being metallic), patterns, and textures that help to add flair to the whole room. If you can’t find the right color for you, they can be painted to match your existing home decor. It’s also good to know that a stylish appearance isn’t all tin ceiling tiles have going for them. They’re also moisture resistant, fire resistant, and require minimal dusting, and because they’re so easy to install, they’re one of the best ways to cover existing imperfections on your ceiling.

2. Decorative Ceilings

Decorative ceilings have the ability to change the whole look and feel of a room. Specific ones will even make the room feel larger than before, as well as allow more light to shine through. The different types of decorative ceilings include dome ceilings (perfect for hanging chandeliers), cove ceilings, groin vault ceilings, and more. Decorative ceilings are highly compatible with entryways, master bathrooms above the bath, kitchens, bedrooms, and basically any other room.

3. Lighting

Almost anything can be decorated, even lights. From crystal chandeliers to ceiling medallions, there’s plenty to do to dress up those lights on your ceiling. If crystal chandeliers don’t fit into your budget at the moment, there are others that can impress almost as much. Examples include pendant, lantern, glass, candle, and shaded chandeliers. The list goes on, but these are some popular examples. You can also opt for a ceiling medallion. A ceiling medallion is a decorative molding that surrounds the lighting. They’re available in different shapes and are sometimes used to match with the existing crown molding. Hint: If you have low ceilings, recessed lighting is an option. This modern look creates an atmosphere that is more open. In this case, hanging fixtures will only make your space feel tighter.

4. Ceiling Drapes

Ceiling drapes are eye-catching, especially in a bedroom or living space. They’re known to provide a cozy feel and are appropriate for any age. With all of the available color and fabric combinations, you can purchase ceiling drapes that are great for children’s rooms or mature adult rooms. Children’s ceiling drapes are usually bright and colorful, while adult ceiling drapes are usually more on the neutral side, but this could depend on the room’s existing color and decor.

5. Paint

Last but not least, and not always the most obvious, paint! While it’s true the majority of households have painted ceilings, it’s likely that most of them are plain. Instead of a simple white one, there are numerous ways to paint your ceilings that will make them pop. One way to do this is by making the ceiling your accent wall. Paint your walls a neutral color and then paint your ceiling a bold color, one that matches an item or a piece of furniture in that room. Another way to do this is by extending the paint from the walls to the ceiling. For example, you can paint the bottom half of your walls solid and the top half of your walls striped, then take those stripes and follow through across the ceiling. Finally, you can choose to paint a design. Depending on the room, examples include chevron, sponge paint, and clouds. Are you starting to consider your ceilings more now than you have in the past? If so, it’s time to spruce them up! Choose one of these ideas, or maybe even try them all. Your ceilings will be the center of everyone’s attention!
